Legacies

If you love Scotland’s magnificent historic gardens and designed landscapes, you can help safeguard them for future generations by supporting the work of SGLH.

Under current Government Legislation, gifts and legacies to registered charities like SGLH are free of inheritance tax. Making such gifts and legacies could reduce or even eliminate payment of inheritance tax, depending on the size of your estate.

To leave a gift in your Will, the following wording can normally be used:

I give [insert amount of legacy] to Scotland’s Garden and Landscape Heritage, 34/2 Moray Place, Edinburgh, EH3 6BX, whose registered Scottish Charity Number is SC034618 and I declare that the receipt of the Honorary Treasurer or other proper officer of Scotland’s Garden and Landscape Heritage for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy.

We do, however, recommend you consult with your legal advisor.
