Conservation News: Loudoun Castle

SGLH recently prepared a consultation response with regard to a proposed farmshop, cafe and tack shop with associated parking and external seating area, adjacent to the entrance to Loudoun Castle.  The Inventory garden and designed landscape is considered to be of national importance, and is shown in detail on Roy’s Military Survey of c.1755.

We recorded our objection to the development, noting that the proposal is “yet another incremental development within the Loudoun Castle Landscape which is gradually leading to the loss of integrity and erosion of the layout”.  You can read our full response here.

We also prepared a consultation response with regard to proposals for the erection of new stables at West Loudon Farm.  You can read our full response to this matter here.
