Conservation News: Loudon Castle

SGLH recently prepared a consultation response with regard to a proposed Farm shop, cafe and tack shop with associated parking and external seating area on land north of Milton Road at Loudoun Castle, Galston, East Ayrshire adjacent to the entrance to Loudoun Castle.  The Inventory Garden & Designed Landscape is considered to be of national importance and is shown in detail on Roy’s Military Survey of c.1755.

We recorded our objection to the development, noting that the proposal “Whilst we accept that the applicant has attempted to reduce the visual impact of the development on the designed landscape through positioning and the use of sympathetic
materials, as explained in the above letters this is unfortunately an application which SGLH is
unable to support”
.  You can read our full response here.
