Conservation News: former Scottish Widows offices, 15 Dalkeith Road an update

Matthew Benians, Acting Vice Chair, presented the case for retaining and documenting the Silvia Crowe landscape at the former Scottish Widows and Life Assurance office building by architects Spence, Glover and Ferguson between 1972-76 which represents the largest example of her work in Scotland at the Application for Hearing Development Management Sub-Committee on the 24th May ’23. The City of Edinburgh Council have granted planning permission in relation to the selective demolition, adaption, extension and upgrading of a Class 4 office building, demolition of car park and ancillary buildings and proposed development of residential accommodation with associated landscaping, parking and infrastructure.
