A Warm Welcome to Scotland’s Garden and Landscape Heritage (SGLH) from our Trustees:
We are very pleased to welcome you to our website and we hope you will become a supporter.
SGLH is a fully independent Scottish charity with a specifically Scottish focus, but we also work closely with The Gardens Trust and other partner organisations.
We organise historic garden and designed landscape surveys by volunteers and offer an extensive programme of events, including lectures, garden visits and study days. We work with an experienced Conservation Consultant in responding to planning applications, and our advice is sought by planning authorities nationwide.
We receive funding from, for example, Historic Environment Scotland (HES), the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), Scottish Forestry and local authorities. We also welcome support from individuals and charitable trusts.
We were recently awarded major grant funding by HES and HLF for a pilot project (“Glorious Gardens”) to record historic gardens and designed landscapes in Falkirk and the Clyde and Avon Valley. You can read more about this and other projects with local volunteers on our Recording Projects page.
This website was redeveloped with funding support from HES so that you can find out more about us and what we do. Your interest and support will be of great assistance to us as we seek to protect and conserve Scotland’s historic garden and landscape heritage for future generations. Please visit our support pages for further details.
